Hey Friends,
I’m so happy to share news of my return to the fine art of wedding invitation design!
But how did I ever get started with nuptial stationery, you ask? Good question. After graduating from college with a degree in Textile Design, I apprenticed with a fine press printer (Peter Koch Printers), where I learned everything I could about typography, graphic design, and letterpress printing. At the end of my apprenticeship, Peter helped me to acquire a gorgeous printing press and since this was exactly the time when my friends first started waltzing down the proverbial aisle, I did what a good friend does… and printed their invitations. The response was overwhelming—my friends loved the look of my designs, little notes that set the tone for their entire ceremony.
Word of my little outfit spread, and over the next decade I created more and more custom letterpress wedding invitations for my clients. As my business grew, I added more options, like flat printing and DIY printables, all with the hopes of making my work more accessible to more couples. DIY-ers are my peeps—they know how to marry their creative souls with their desire for a low price tag. When my husband and I married, we spent $2,000 on the whole shebang.
With the birth of my son in 2013, there was no way I could keep up with bridal demands. I had to step back from one of my happiest enterprises. For the next five years, I worked as an editor for a wedding blog while working on some fine art projects on the side.
Lately, I’ve been dreaming about invitation designs again. Fonts, colors, textures and flourishes… these are some of my favorite obsessions. So… I’m back! I’m making my wedding invitations available again, and I have a plan to share them in a way that won’t run me ragged.
My wedding invitation collection, with styles ranging from quirky to classic is now available through Zazzle! I love this platform because it lets couples easily customize every piece of stationery. It offers paper and die-cutting options, and it’s so easy to order a sample—and it’s affordable.
I have mountains of designs in my archives, and I’m excited to add more work to my collections. If you’re in love and in the throes of planning your perfect wedding, I’ve got your back—there’s a design for every pair of you.
Cheers,
Jess
